It fosters core research personnel (Core) who lead innovation in high-tech fields.
Korea’s research ecosystem must move beyond a professor–student-centered structure
toward a research model centered on postdoctoral researchers,
and now is the time for this transition.
Postdoctoral researchers are key drivers in the research field who create new knowledge and technologies,
and serve as the central pillar of the research ecosystem by turning creative and challenging ideas into tangible outcomes.
The InnoCORE program is being promoted based on the recognition of this paradigm shift,
with the goal of systematically fostering outstanding postdoctoral researchers
and providing a stable environment where they can fully focus on research.
This program is designed as a platform where postdoctoral researchers
can lead creative and challenging research initiatives,
while also collaborating organically with the collective intelligence of
science and technology institutes including KAIST,
as well as industry and government-funded research institutes,
to carry out interdisciplinary research in a stable manner.
Through the InnoCORE program, KAIST aims to nurture postdoctoral researchers
not as supporting personnel, but as independent and core research talents,
and to present the direction of the future research ecosystem that KAIST envisions.
