BIO-STARx Research Center: Biological Integrity and Origins of Aging - Structure and AI-based Prescription
KEYWORDKeywords
OBJECTIVE Objective
We aim to establish a world-class research and education hub that fosters early-career scientists to pioneer personalized aging control regimens through the precise analysis of biomolecular structures and functions, and the modulation of age-related biological responsiveness.
INTRODUCTION Message from the Principal Investigator
The BIO-STARx Research Initiative rethinks aging; shifting the paradigm from simple molecular wear-and-tear to a systemic collapse in how our bodies perceive, process, and respond to cellular signals.
We focus on pinpointing the structural and functional disruptions in key bio-responsiveness regulators that drive aging, paving the way for original chemical and biological interventions.
To drive both innovative discovery and talent development, experts from DGIST (Department of New Biology and the Well-Aging Research Center), KRICT, and KBRI have joined forces to foster collaborative research and hands-on co-mentoring.
IMPACT Expected Impact
By redefining aging not merely as an accumulation of molecular damage, but as a process of structural and functional reorganization of the bio-responsiveness system, we expect to expand the conceptual framework of aging research.
Furthermore, by extending this framework to diverse applications, including aging-targeted drug discovery, biomaterials for modulating cellular reactivity, and personalized healthcare solutions, we aim to provide a foundational platform to tackle the structural challenges of age-related health decline and escalating medical expenditures.
